Bukavu : Mwangaza Hope launches a solidarity campaign to support the 2026-2027 school year for vulnerable children

In preparation for the start of the 2026-2027 school year, the Mwangaza Hope association launched a solidarity campaign this Saturday, July 4, 2026, in Bukavu, aimed at raising funds for children from vulnerable families. The announcement was made during a press conference led by the organization’s representatives.

Speaking at the event, Ibag Bagenda, one of the leaders of Mwangaza Hope, explained that this initiative is part of the « Pamoja kwa Umoja » project, implemented with the support of several partners. According to him, this campaign aims to guarantee access to education for the most disadvantaged children, in a context marked by a persistent socioeconomic crisis.

He indicated that during the 2025-2026 school year, more than fifty students benefited from having their school fees covered thanks to contributions from the association’s benefactors. This support enabled them to continue their studies and successfully complete their school year.

However, Ibag Bagenda pointed out that requests for school assistance are constantly increasing due to the security crisis in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

He explained that many families have lost their livelihoods, while several businesses and economic activities have ceased to operate, significantly reducing parents’ ability to provide schooling for their children.

The head of Mwangaza Hope also indicated that this situation is affecting the organization’s partners. According to him, several donors have withdrawn their support due to economic difficulties, thus jeopardizing the association’s ability to support students during the upcoming school year.

Faced with this reality, he launched an appeal to people of goodwill, businesses, organizations, members of the diaspora as well as all potential partners to join this solidarity campaign in order to enable more children to continue their schooling.

For Mwangaza Hope, every contribution represents an opportunity to keep a child in school, believing that supporting education is a sustainable investment in peace, stability and the development of society.

The organization finally expressed its gratitude to the donors who have already supported its actions and invited new partners to commit to this initiative aimed at improving access to education for vulnerable children.
